  • Multistage builds to decrease image size, faster image building.
  • Update .dockerignore to ignore files uncessary in prod
  • Update image to Ubuntu Focal

Action Required: Fix Renovate Configuration

There is an error with this repository's Renovate configuration that needs to be fixed. As a precaution, Renovate will stop PRs until it is resolved.

Error type: undefined

youtube refuses to connect on cloud-init.io site

Summary

there appears to be a youtube video that is supposed to be on the top right of the front page, and it's not there.

Process

Go to cloud-init.io, see the sad file icon on the right side of the top of the page.

cloud-init is dual licenced

Summary

The about section claims that cloud-init is licenced under GPLv3, which is only half correct. It is currently dual licenced under GPLv3 and Apache 2.0.

Current and expected result

The text should state both.

OS Images need text for think

The link is not obvious, I think we need to add some text like

'Get Ubuntu cloud images'

or

'Get Ubuntu images'

Happy to look at this with you

Text is not aligned down page

Summary

The text at the top of the page uses a column width of 8.
The text in the next section uses a column width of 9.
The rest of the page uses a column width of 12.

This appears very off and looks very awkward. Should these all be aligned to 12?

Process

Search for "col-8" and "col-9"

Current and expected result

The text should look more aligned and consistent

Update Josh Harlow's employer

Please change copy on cloud-init.io from:

"Joshua Harlow
Joshua is an active maintainer of cloud-init, hacking on clouds for Yahoo."

To...

"Joshua Harlow
Joshua is an active maintainer of cloud-init, hacking on clouds for GoDaddy"

OS section needs update

Summary

In the operating systems section there are few issues:

  • RedHat 'Get packages' link is wrong as it points at Debian
  • Debian is not listed at all
  • Fedora and CentOS links point at images, for CentOS we could use the unofficial (?) package search. Fedora has the pkgdb but that appears to be discontinued in July of 2017.
  • SuSE points at SuSEStudio. We could link to OpenSuSE

Current and expected result

I would expect each link to be consistently showing a package search result or a link directly to cloud-init. If it needs to be an image then it should say "Get images" rather than "Get packages".

For CentOS we do have a COPR repo that we are working on getting going

IRC Logs link is old

Summary

The link to the IRC logs was last updated in 2015. This make it look like there has been no development in months.

Current and expected result

We could either have this link to freenode's website itself or it's webclient until we get logging back up.

Support section could be grey?

for Yaili, but could it look like the 'Four ways to get OpenStack' on Ubuntu section on ubuntu.com/cloud/openstack ?

also, full width?

Download links are wrong

Summary

The download links for the various OSes are again incorrect.

Process

The links for Fedora, CentOS, Red Hat, and openSUSE are not accurate.

Current and expected result

The Red Hat based OSes should point at the COPR repo, and openSUSE should be pointing at the Open Build Service.

Gentoo logo too big?

visually it looks larger than any other... and the redhat one too small... could we either resize or add/remove whitespace to balance?

Empty footer

Currently the footer section is empty. We should remove the footer section if there is no content.

Typo on Browse(r)

Baazar
Browser and branch from Bazaar.

SHOULD BE

Baazar
Browse and branch from Bazaar.

THERE IS AN EXTRA 'R" on 'Browse'

Intro text

for frankie... I think we need to rethink the text at the top a bit based on this design to feel more like MAAS.io

Update client logos on 'Used across the Public cloud' section

Enhancement

Currently in the process of updating client logos to use our new alignment template, so they sit on an imaginary baseline which will give logos:

  • A comparable visual weight
  • Fit in a given height / width
  • Reduces elongated or very thin logos to appear a lot smaller

Source code section needs update

Summary

First two sections under source code are incorrect:

  • The source code is not in baazar anymore, it is in Git hosted on LaucnhPad (for now). The link is correct, but we should get rid of baazar.
  • The GitHub link is to a very, very old cloud-init repo, you should be using: https://github.com/cloud-init/cloud-init

Current and expected result

First window should talk about "git" and the second window needs the link updated.

Typo in Bazaar on the main page

Summary

Typo in Bazaar on the main page

Process

Current and expected result

Under the Source code header, Bazaar is spelled Baazar in the title and link.
