cherrymx-eagle

cherry MX eagle library

a basic eagle library for cherry mx keyswitches

I created this repository for this eagle library after recieving a number of messages from people who found mention of it in google results and inquired to me for a copy. I'm happy (even eager) to share my work with others who can make use of it.

However, despite creating this library, I as of yet haven't tested it on a real PCB. I have done my best to verify it by printing it out and even laser cutting it into plastic to check alignment, but have not had the chance to test with a PCB. For that reason, if you do use it on a PCB, PLEASE contact me to let me know everything came OK. Also, if you modify or expand the library, please contribute your work back to this repository so that others can benefit.

Update: As of January 2014 the library has been verified to work on an actual PCB. Specifically, it has been tested with MX1A-11NW switches. You will definitely want a part ending in "W" ("With pins") if the switches will be PCB mounted. (Thanks daveho!)

cherrymx-eagle's Issues

LED holes in wrong location for Gateron switches

I have Gateron Blues. The LED holes in the footprint are too close to the center of the switch. For my switches, the LED holes are inline with the holes for the diode (about 5mm from the center of the switch as with the *-DIODE footprint).

I ended up drilling extra holes in my switches. Other than that, everything fit nicely. ๐Ÿ˜„

Spacing

How far apart should I put the switches on the board so that it fits perfectly with added keycaps?

Thanks for any help.

I ordered PCBs based on this library

Thanks for the library!

I used it in a PCB design which I sent out for fabrication, and
(if I remember) I will update this issue to report on whether
it worked or not.

From looking at the library, the footprint seems to match the
information published on the Cherry website, so I'm
cautiously optimistic...

I made some minor changes to the schematic symbol:
in particular, adding a >NAME tag so that instances can
be named (S1, S2, etc.) which is nice for a circuit that
will have multiple Cherry MX switches.

Error in file

Error:

line 7, column 16: This is not an EAGLE file.

EDIT - my error.
