Text Data and Machine Learning for Social Science

This repo includes slides and jupter notebooks for an introductory course on text analysis and machine learning, with a focus on social science applications.

/slides: contains the handout version of the slides

/notebooks: contains the Jupyter notebooks used for instruction and examples.

/scripts: contains runnable Python script versions of the notebooks

/data: includes the "death-penalty-cases.csv" data set, in case you would like to replicate the scripts or notebooks. The scripts and notebooks need to be run in the directory where this file is saved.
