I would love to see a similar extension for Firefox (particularly automatically muting and disabling the camera). I was wondering if a port had ever been considered?
If you think it may be possible I'd be willing to take a crack at it (I have some Firefox extension experience).
Thanks for any thoughts or feedback and for a great extension.
Some time ago, I noticed that Google Meet was not sounding other peoples voices. More specifically, when I test audio from the meet settings, the dummy song is getting played and I can hear the music. When someone speaks in the meet, I can see their avatar is getting blue highlight and blue pulse animation, but I can't hear peoples voices.
When I disabled this extension, I could hear peoples voices again with no trouble.
I'm not sure if it's related to macOS update but, I have upgrade from Ventura to Sonoma and it might have an effect
In my chromium browser, the aria-label for the buttons is using a capital letter, D and E.
To fix that you probably have to change the querySelector query with the ignorecase option [aria-label$=" + ${buttonKey})" i]
I mostly use the shortcut Ctrl+D to mute & unmute.
Sometimes accidentally when muting, I press Ctrl+E, which enables my camera.
Would be great if you could add an option in the initial screen to disallow enabling video when in the call.
(This can either make the video button disabled, or hide it totally)
We are using Google Meet via GSuite/work Google accounts. After installing this extension and opening a Meet url, the video/camera is still activated by default.
