thing-doer's Issues

Use "actions" folder

Currently, thing-doer is sent literal commands to be ran. This is powerful, scary, and difficult to configure since LaunchDarkly does not support multi-line strings in its string variations.

I want to make the following changes:

  • 1) Add actions folder to thing-doer. After cloning/forking, you can put any scripts you like in here.

  • 2) Add helloworld.bat and helloworld.sh to actions folder.

  • 3) Change variation served from command as string to action request as json object in the following format:

{
    "action": "NAME_OF_FILE_IN_ACTIONS_FOLDER",
    "options": "LIST OF OPTIONS"
}

Example, if curl were in the actions folder:

{
    "action": "curl",
    "options": "-X GET -i https://github.com"
}
  • 4) Update thing-doer to handle this new format, and only run things that are in the actions folder.

  • 5) Create new issue for "Handling options better"
