Sorry to return with another issue
While trying to install Mimic from zip, I'm getting "the dependency on xbmc.gui version 5.11.0 could not be satisfied"

Do I need to drop down to a previous version of Kodi to use Mimic for now? (Mimic is my favorite addon, so it would certainly be worth it)

I really love your skin. It has nearly everything I want. I would only like to request an enhancement for the "Logo" view. At the moment it does not look very nice because the default background darkens the fanart so much. It would look better without a background.

I tried to change the background color in the settings but then everything else looks kind of weird and in the "Logo" view the top bar is not visible enough.

ps: maybe add the watched/in progress indicator to this view?

I tried installing mimic on my rpi 2, but it looks hanging very often. After some digging I have seen that the cpu is nearly always at 100%. Any chance mimic may work more fluent on RPI?

It is really the best skin for kodi and my default... Do not like to use any other.

The "Colours" section in 5.x is missing a reset option to reset all colors back to the defaults.

The older Mimic versions did have such an option.

Can you please re-add it?

Recently upgraded KODI (Jarvis 16 beta 5) and correspondingly Mimic(3.2). I've noticed all my watched status icons have disappeared on shows/movies (As well as the nice default power home menu page..but that's fixable by the end user)

I DO really like the changes made overall in the last version or two -- especially the simplification of widgets

Hi, after a git pull today, I noticed the icons in the settings panel are bigger than before the update, therefore not fitting all in my TV screen.
Is there somewhere I could change to the previous size and layout?
Tried taking a screenshot with:
kodi-send --action="TakeScreenshot" but didn't work, sorry.

Not really an issue but didn't know where to ask..

Turned on Kodi which them updated Mimic theme. Now the theme doesn't appear to read .kodi/userdata/addon_data/skin.mimic/settings.xml and all my settings have gone.

Using Jarvis on Android TV.

Only happens with Music menu item. There is only "Files" in the sub menu. I have a lot of add-ons installed but there is no Add-ons sub menu item.

I've tried resetting Kodi to scratch. I'm using 16.0 on Nexus Player, AFTV2, and AFTV.

After update to Kodi 16.0 on a Raspberry Pi2 running osmc 2016.02-1, I am unable to toggle the Sort direction in View Options with Mimic 2.3.0.

In particular, I've tested my TV Shows library using any Sort by selection and any View selection. Depending on Sort by setting, the Sort direction is static as either Ascending or Descending but unable to be changed to the other direction.

In Confluence, the Sort direction is able to be toggled, as expected, so this appears to be a skin specific issue.

First, Thanks for your cool theme, which support RomCollectionBrowser 1080p.
I'm actually trying to setup PVR (SimpleIPTV) on Kodi 16.1rc running on Debian x64, and seems like the 'LiveTV' doesn't appear when mimic is enabled, but when i revert to AeonNox & Confluence, it show the menu (still have to figure out the correct formating for the m3u file)
Also, during tests, i've updated to git master, and seems like you can't come back from the right sidebar in the option menu (using x360 controller and keyboard)

Ver 4.0.3 for Kodi 17 is unable to add shortcuts on main menu and submenu under skin settings..
is there another way round?

I haven't been using Kodi for long, and I just recently stumbled onto this skin which is totally gorgeous! I'm having quite the problem though - I use subtitles quite a lot, and in the default skin I'm able to disable them when they're incorrect or offset the timing so that it matches the audio. However, on Mimic when I try to go to the subtitles submenu when a show is playing, it only brings up a dialogue to change the SRT file I'm using, and even then I don't seem to be able to select anything in the dialogue - I can only back out of it. Am I totally missing a setting or add-on somewhere, or is this something that needs to be fixed on your end?

Really liking the looks of your skin, but I encountered a small problem.

When I change a main-menu items action to point to a add-on (e.g. music to point to a add-on instead of the music-library) it disappears on the home screen while still showing within script.skinshortcuts.

Tested on Jarvis with:

• Skin version from the official kodi repo
• Master branch

In 16.1 Mimic I had a widget on my homescreen for trakt.tv progress and it actually showed the poster of the show with the title of the show on it. No description or episode name or anything... in 17.1 If i select Poster for the art style, it shows the poster with the show name, but also a GIANT box with the description on it. Would it be possible to add an option to turn the description off?

when selecting side menu from pvr, is it possible to move the misc option tv group higher up on the list and maybe have auto close after selecting a tv group.

It would be really great to handpick a subset of favourites to display as a widget on a menu item. Or drop down menu. For example news with quicklinks to news videos in 5 different plugins

Mouse control is incompatible with the default home layout: mousing over an option brings up a submenu for the currently selected option (via keyboard), rather than the option that was hovered over.

After install only 5 items show on menu bar are PICTURES VIDEO MUSIC PROGRAMS SETTINGS

Hello, the last update (3.4.0) added some usefull features and I am greatfull for that. But in the process you changed the main settings menu view from a 2 collums view to thumbnail view. Please give us the option to change that back. I can't find any way to change it back myself (searched through Skin settings, settings.xml & Kiosk mode is disabled).

The widget background doesn't appear (tablet mode widget stay), it appear after 5 minutes, and stay in all categories without widgets.

With the current GitHub version background fanart seems to use the kodi default scaling behaviour stretch - which looks odd if fanart doesn't come in standard size which is often the case with my collection. It seems (I'm not really familiar with Kody skinning apart from happily using the great Mimic skin) that adding

<include name="FullscreenDimensions">
...
	<aspectratio>scale</aspectratio>
</include>

to /1080i/Includes_CommonValues.xml does make things look better IMHO.
If possibly it would be nice to have this value set by default / added to the include; wouldn't it look better than stretch?

BTW I've noticed Omni uses the same standard scaling value.

I have latest stable Kodi version installed with mimic updated to this version and have a small issue with the full screen wall display: there is a gap in the bottom of the screen where I can see the background, and an equivalent part of the top row is cut at the top: in a word, the whole wall is offset by a bit in the top, which is annoying.

I use OSMC on a Raspberry Pi 2, for additional info.

Mimic is already way better than Estuary in that regard.

However, would there be any chance you could still increase the font size in Mimic or add an option to increase the font size?

Setting _View = List + Slim list = Off + Wide list = On_ already helps a lot for readability (thanks a lot, this is awesome 🙂).

But it actually wouldn't hurt if the fonts in Mimic would be even bigger.

As you can see from the forum thread mentioned above, font size and readability is really important for users.

So, if you could manage to increase the font size in Mimic even further, that would be really nice.

after moving to krypton (osmc), my fav skin still works and is just fine, with one exception. my music widget has been always set to random albums and the after upgrade, a selected random album isn't highlighted anymore. it's hard to tell which one will be played ;)
interestingly enough, the other sections with a similar layout behaves fine (for example selected elements of favorites are properly highlighted).

please let me know what's needed to diagnose it. not sure if logs would help here in anyway. it seems like cosmetics...

Please consider adding an option to disable the time in the music playing notification. Though only with http radio streams.

I know I might be asking the impossible, or at least the extremely time-consuming, but there is a rationale to my pedantic request. When listening to radio - especially commercial radio - you often see reports of 15 or 30 seconds when the station is broadcasting a trailer or commercial. At other times Kodi struggles to display the time of radio shows (like talkshows) which may not have fixed and definitive time slots. It all becomes a bit of a mess and next to no use.

While it's a boon for music from the library, for the radio it's just an annoying ******.

To be honest, there's a very good chance that I need to get a life. Or at least worry about more important issues like Aleppo or climate change disaster. But it's Sunday morning, I'm hungover and that flickering time thing is really getting on my tits.

Hi thanks for this great skin, however the "enter master mode" text doesn't show up in the when selecting "DialogButtonMenu.xml".
I think the problem is that no "label" has been set up, therefore my question:
How do I find out which number to put in there?
I see in "DialogButtonMenu.xml" that for example "reboot" has "label 13013", and so on.
But no label for "EnterMAsterMode"... as reported below:

I recent discovered both Kodi and Mimic. You've done an amazing job moderizing the UI. Congrats, and thanks for the work you've put in. :)

I was playing around with the Library and noticed that the background doesn't change the fanart as I scroll through the episodes. It just uses the show fanart not that of the episode. (I currently use low list). In Quasar and other apps i get extra fan art backgrounds for each episode, but not if I view them from my library after I've added them. Have I missed a setting? I also don't have art work config option in my left panel for tv episodes in the library. I looked through the XML but need to spend a bit more time aquinting myself with how Kodi is put together.

Cheers! I love the skin and I have been using it for quite a while and love it. I was trying to transfer my skin settings to my dad. We are both using Amazon Fire Stick, but if I wanted to create a custom menu and then distribute it, provided that Kodi was the same version, on any hardware, how would I go about doing that?

Is this a setting which isn´t included in the skin yet?

When setting a custom color via the color customizer, it's possible to set the opacity of the background color.

But even if it is set to 100%, it's still a bit transparent.

Any chance you could fix that?

When setting up widgets for the main menu is there a way to remove the "per-item" background and "bezel" for the poster view? Currently, Poster view shows the poster in front of a black square surrounded by the almost transparent bezel. So basically there is no difference between the Poster view and the Thumbnail view.

Most fonts are rather thin. Setting them to bold might improve the readability.

This should be an option though. So, users which would prefer to use the regular version of the font, should still be able to use the regular version, whereas users which prefer the bold version should be able to enable the bold version via an option.

Not sure why, but under kodi 16 the power menu is missing. That makes it very difficult to restart, shutdown, standby the openelec system.

Tested with

• Kodi 16.0 on Windows 10
• OpenElec 7.0 Beta1

Would it be possible to allow the "recently added" and "recommended episodes" widgets to always be visible? Right now, one has to press "up" to make them visible.

I have several custom widgets from plugins. They take about 1min to update. It would be good to cache them and refresh in the background. Perhaps with an indication there is an update coming?

Trying to update from the most recent 4.x version to 5.0 leads to a successful download, followed by an "Update failed" message at 4% progress.
A look inside Kodi's log file doesn't reveal anything beyond the following lines either:

If you mde mimic your default skin and than start the openelec program the fonts are totally unsharp und you cannot read it. I'm not sure if this is a mimic or openelec issue.

Hi,

Normally the Kodi interface (menu) will rendered with ~5 frames per second when nothing is animated (no rss feeds, no animated descriptions). Actually this works. But if you're using the mimic theme and navigate to a media library (tv-shows/movies) then the screen is every time rendered with full 60 fps which affects a higher CPU usage. This happens also if the system is/should idle.

I figured out, if no background images are shown (I don't know how I had disabled them temporary from the library view) then I got the expected ~5 frames per seconds and a lower CPU usage.

I tried to setting up the dirty regions settings but it doesn't changed the behavior. Is this high fps on the media library really necessary in fact of that nothing is really animated on the view? Or is this eventually a bug? I tried some other kodi skins which haven't this issue.

From a quick (very quick!) check of the repo, this is the only skin other than Nox5 (+ non repo variants) than will be affected by an upcoming change to the skin shortcuts script.

Support for the very old .shortcuts files are soon to removed, with only support for the .DATA.xml files for providing defaults for menu's/submenus - please migrate to the new file format ASAP :)

(Relevant PR - BigNoid/script.skinshortcuts#30 - if you use the same default submenus as Nox5, you can just use the .DATA.xml files that Nox5 now uses.)

Widget is set to exodus new movies but when viewing the widget there is an overlap of the video library being empty

Hey Braz96, using latest Mimic version on Kodi Krypton there is a bug on IPTV.

When clicking LIVE TV (channels) it shows my channel list as usual, but when choosing a channel the channel list disappears.

And it's actually ugly, so could you also direct some attention to the Live Tv tab and make it both beautiful and functional like the rest of your skin?

I have managed to get watch statuses from trakt working. However if all episodes of a particular season have been watched, they are not marked as such in the Seasons view. Individual episodes are marked watched in Episodes view. If all seasons of a show have been watched then it is marked as such in TV Shows view. Only thing missing is seasons to be marked watched in Seasons view.

This is not an issue per se, but just a design suggestion.

Instead of large horizontal rectangle menu's on the main screen, what about using the menu layout you used in the Settings > Skin Settings section with popouts on the right for additional submenus?

The menu layout in the Skin Settings applied on the main screen would allow greater viability to more addon shortcuts in main menu and would allow more space to the right for any pop-out menus, or addon images.
