Cannot get Hello World test project working

I'm glad a solution exists to run VS Code Extension tests with Jest, but I am experiencing issues with this runner. Here are the repro steps:

  1. Clone the repo at mark-wiemer/helloworld-test-sample-jest
  2. Run npm i
  3. Run Jest: Extension through the Run activity on the left
  4. Note that the runner/debugger starts, but no output is visible.

If you pause the runner, you may briefly see that it seems to be stuck in an infinite loop of console.log calls:

I was previously able to get additional information through the Developer: Show Developer Tools command, but I cannot repro that anymore. This system is very finnicky.

I might be missing something, I am new at this. Are you able to provide a sample Hello World test project?
