Remove utm tags appended during sharing

Reddit likes to leave a trail at their users when they share a post or a comment through the share sheet by appending a utm_medium tag with the app and OS info. With out.reddit.com tracking partially removed, I think it'll be best to remove these traking tags when you share something from the share sheet. Plus it's kinda annoying to strip the tags off the url manually

Reddit removed the option to open links externally from 2022.38.0

Reddit changelog (https://old.reddit.com/r/reddit/comments/xvjf3j/changelog_live_chat_update_intuitive_post_type/)
Many Android users are currently experiencing an error when they try to open links within their Reddit app. In order to fix this error, we will be removing the “Open web links in-app” option from Settings. Links will then default to opening in Chrome custom tabs—if Chrome isn’t available, they'll default to opening in a browser window within the app.

They won't return it (Reddit admin)
This app setting was removed along with the recent rollout of version 2022.38.0 of our Android app and will not be available in future versions of the official Reddit app for Android.

Most likely the real reason
https://www.reddit.com/r/redditmobile/comments/y6etld/android2022380607460_suddenly_cant_open_links/itahe1n/
They fixed the bug. The bug was their marketing people were missing a bunch of data from people that opened links outside the app. They fixed that by redirecting links through a tracking proxy. That was a problem though because the compute power to manage tracking every link that way is almost as expensive (or maybe more expensive) than the price they can sell the data for. So they removed it.

My request is this

  1. Please add 2022.37.0 patched base.
  2. Let's figure out if it's possible to add the feature back. Maybe @nightznero can help as i've been using his out.reddit.com removed patched APK for while. That's why i am 2 month late on this lame Reddit update.

Material you theme

We actually need this . I found someone made material you theme youtube in mobilisim and I am thrilled if reddit have that.

remove trackers

There are no ads but some trackers
api2.branch.io ,e.reddit.com, crashlyticsreports-pa.googleapis.com

Thanks for your work

Patch to remove subreddit updates.

Reddit shows this pop-up if you visit a subreddit offenly and there is no way to disable it. It shows Get the best of r/subreddit to get updates from that subreddit.

Is it possible to disable it permanently?

any ETA on an update?

Seems like Reddit changed something on their end and now half of the searches made are returned empty or is stuck constantly loading. This doesn't seem to happen on the latest base from the Google Play store and just started happening about a week ago. Any chance we could get a base bump? Last update was almost a month ago

Duplicate app alongside original reddit

First and foremost thanks a lot for keeping this alive and can you please provide the update

Also can you please provide a separate package which can be installed alongside the play Store version .

Automating shit

Can't you make patches and upload them on github?

A patch looks like this, it is what git uses to produce files from history.

By making patches in that way you can just write a simple script to do the edits, without having to do them by hand.

Add old versions to Releases

Would it be possible to add the old versions to the Releases on GitHub? Or put them in a linked Mega folder or something?

Create an on Device Patcher

Make an App that patches the apk like Aliucord or Revanced
Or just anyway to easily patch the apks yourself.
Posting modified apks on Github is just a bad idea in general, Reddit could easily dmca.

Most recent

Could you please update to recent Reddit please?

*cough*

Sir, it appears that this repo has been around for a long time.

Popular-tab content differs from the original/official app and web versions

Hello Blatzar,

first, thanks for your work. This seems to be working, but...
just wanted to note that the "Redited" app shows different content in the "popular"-tab (at least for me) in comparison to the "original" Reddit app. This is also true for web version, so there might be something "uncorrect" with the Redited app (a wild guess: Maybe country-specific-things or "non-existing-premium-sideeffect"?). Additionally you cannot see the location tab/list on the popular-tab on your app.

Last but not least: A request: Is it possible to add "Redited" to F-Droid please? If yes, please do it :D. Thank you. Keep up the good work!

PS: Oh and my "history" got deleted/cleared but I am not sure if "Redited" app is the reason for it, so I will keep quit :).
