Usually sockets are created in /var/run and not in /tmp

Any reason why radicale does it differently ?

In the config file

/etc/radicale/config 

The base_prefix should be set to the path entered during the installation of radicale ( /sync/ by default) instead of / .

Without this configuration, other clients work fine like carddav-sync for android, iceowl for icedove or the rcmcarddav plugin for roundcube, but the davdroid Android application doesn't.

With this configuration the other clients still work but the behaviour is different :

With "base_prefix = /" the collections are stored in, for example :

"/var/www/radicale/collections/sync/user/Example.vcf/

Whereas with "base_prefix = /sync/" the collections are directly stored in :

"/var/www/radicale/collections/user/Example.vcf/

which seems to be a better behaviour.

I'm having a hard time connecting iCal to Radicale, is it possible at all? As doc suggest, I'm using the following path like so

https://domain/sync/user/calendar.ics/

when setting it up in the Internet Accounts pane in System Preferences.app. (sorry for the swedish)

Credentials do get accepted, but iCal throws me this error message:

The server has not specified a calendar home for the account at [domain]

Are there specific ports that need opening perhaps?
