We need to exclude them from the rsync using an inuitive naming pattern, like "env-specific-*" for files, or "env-specific/" to exclude all files under a folder

Although current files are not so large, manifests can get large. Use yshard to split them up by ".kind"

• Choice of kustomize as a flexible, minimal approach to manifest customization/parameterization, that is used with success in many organizations. Note it does have some drawbacks safety-wise
  -kustomization.yaml is present both in the app repos and in each environment- so that customization according to either app and/or environment can be performed
• We need to make sure we use kustomize before manifest static checks are performed

One of the nice things about rendering kubernetes yaml files up-front is that static checks can be performed on them.

Tools like:

• kubeval
• kubescore
• conftest

Each can have a valuable role in validating manifest files
