polar-coaster's Issues

How to fasten the small gear?

Not really an issue, more of a question. What screw do I need to fasten the small gear? I tried with an M8x8mm screw. While that keeps the gear in place, the screw head interfers with the big gear.
Thanks in advance :)

Alternative Design Ideas

It has been noted that other countries use different coaster sizes. There is a not a lot of flexibility in the current design, especially going to a larger diameter coaster.

The firmware can handle any size and probably accommodate other changes. If you are looking at a redesign, here are some thoughts.

  1. The board does not need to be part of the design. A simpler existing board could be used remotely or packaged within the base. I sell some on Tindie.

  2. The geared rotational bed is complex to model. Someone suggested a direct drive. That is probably doable without affecting quality. I would probably suggest a metal hub, rather that direct mounting of the 3D printed part. It is more likely to be concentric and could buffer the heat from the motor.

Creating G-Code

Hello,

I am building this machine and I have read more or less all the material that I can on the V2. There's mention of a python script to compile gcode for the Polar Coaster, but I don't see it on github. Are there instructions to creating the gcode for this machine?

Not enough memory

When we try to download the firmware into the ESP32 controller we get the following error:

error for compiling board NodeMCU-32S
Text section exceeds available space in board
Sketch too big; see https://support.arduino.......
Error compiling for board NodeMCU32-S.

Hopefully you can help us with this problem.

Grbl Link is broken

It appears that he link to the polar coaster branch of Grbl_ESP32 provided in the readme is broken

antenna interfere with the stepper motor driver
