6,391 care home deaths in three weeks

On May 5 2020 the data unit contributed an update to that day's liveblog on the number of care home deaths from coronavirus between 10 April and 1 May.

Nick Stripe from the ONS said that while that was reassuring, the number of deaths overall is still many more than usual for this time of year.
