Should be able to easily add proxy support to requests, potentially via an environment variable.

gulp has a known security vulnerability in a dependency down its chain (lodash 1.0.2) and there doesn't seem to be much momentum for it anymore.

We can pretty easily replace the build process with Babel, which is what we use on other JS projects and has become the standard way to build projects like this.

When building from the admin console we are getting an error:
