pixelperfectionce's Introduction

Pixel Perfection Community Edition (CE)

A 16x resolution resource pack for Minecraft™ by Mojang AB. Originally envisioned and created by XSSheep, updated by the community to support recent Minecraft versions.

Supported Minecraft version (Java Edition): 1.16.2

Description

This resource pack has been originally published by XSSheep in 2012 and has seen continous updates by its creator until February 2019. Since then several members of the Minecraft community (see below) stepped in to provide updates and content to maintain compatibility with recent Minecraft versions. Since XSSheep had the foresight to publish her/his work under a creative common license which allows alteration and redistribution, I decided to take what the community has achieved so far and to put it in a repository where the community can continue to collaborate to keep this great resource pack alive and thriving.

How to contribute

Report a Bug

Open an issue in the issue tracker. Fill out the provided form with as many information as possible. This helps us to reproduce the issue and hopefully fix it. If possible, attach screenshots and/or log files illustrating the issue.

Contribute Content

Intellectual Property

This is probably the most important part: Do not copy any kind of content without explicit permission! This includes copying content from Minecraft itself e.g. to add missing textures. You may however use assets published under a compatible license including:

If in doubt ask the original creator for explicit permission to include her/his work in Pixel Perfection CE and to redistribute it under the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license.

Pull Requests

Fork this repository, and push your changes to this fork. Create a pull request and provide the information requested in the template. If you have created content yourself, you will have to consent to having it published under the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license. If you have copied content from anywhere else, you will have to either provide a source for its licensing information or a proof of consent from the original creator.

pixelperfectionce's Issues

Making Glass More Glass

After using this resource pack for months, I can't help but think that the "wooden bars" in the middle of glass blocks and panes are quite intrusive. They also ruin reflective effects of shaders.

About the license

Dear Athemis,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to request permission to use the textures from your Minecraft texture pack for a game that I am creating. I understand that your content is licensed under Creative Commons Share Alike (CC-BY-SA) and I respect the terms of the license.

However, I am also using third-party assets in my game that are licensed under other licenses that do not permit me to use the CC-BY-SA license. Therefore, I would like to request permission to use your textures under the condition that I can't share my game under the same license.

I would be happy to credit your work in my game and provide a link to your original texture pack, and I assure you that your textures will be used respectfully and with the utmost care.

Thank you for considering my request. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Best regards,
Alde Roberge

Conversion to Modern Formats

Explained further in https://github.com/rre36/lab-pbr/wiki, I think it would be good to follow the labPBR format for this texture pack - and since this is a continuation rather than a "fork", we don't need to worry about keeping the old format. We should also support Fabric users [without OptiFabric] where possible.

Merging of Chorus' version introduced regressions

  • Textures are duplicated (especially alternative textures from optifine's random entity)
  • Models include wrong paths leading to errors logged to console and models/textures not showing correctly
  • Some CTM textures are in non-lower-case folders which are ignored by optifine
