MediCheck: Unity AR Medication Recognition

Welcome to MediCheck, an augmented reality (AR) application developed using Unity Engine and Vuforia. This project aims to provide users with a seamless way to identify medications and drugs using their device's camera, offering information and recommendations without the need for manual searching or typing.

Features:

  • AR Medication Recognition: Users can open the camera within the app to detect visible medications and drugs.
  • Interactive Popups: Upon detection, a popup appears on the medication box, allowing users to click for more information and recommendations.
  • Accessibility: Designed to assist users with visual impairments or difficulties in reading, especially beneficial for the elderly.

How it Works:

  1. Camera Detection: Utilizing AR technology, the app scans the surroundings for recognizable medication packages.
  2. Information Popup: Once a medication is detected, a popup appears on the screen with details and recommendations.
  3. Voice Assistance: For enhanced accessibility, the app can read out the ingredients, effects, and alternatives of the detected medication.

Future Enhancements:

  • Improved Recognition Accuracy: Continuously refining the AR detection algorithms for better performance.
  • Voice Command Integration: Allowing users to interact with the app hands-free using voice commands.
  • Expanded Database: Integrating a comprehensive database of medications and drugs for broader coverage.

MediCheck offers a novel approach to medication information retrieval, leveraging AR technology to simplify the process for users. With its intuitive interface and voice assistance features, it aims to empower individuals with easy access to vital medication details.

Dependencies: This project requires the installation of the Vuforia package, please import it from the Unity Package Manager or manually from Vuforia's site.

I have included a sample image to scan in order to test the APK, the file is Sample_Efferalgan.jpg
