The source you forked from has one ticket open as of today. It is issue 13: mkinitcpio-growrootfs doesn't understand UUID=foo. The last comment points to a patch used with ec2 images.

I'm sorry I missed your AUR comment back in April - I'v no idea how that happened. Thanks for stepping up and fixing the package in my absence!

Now that the AUR is moving to git, would you like to take over the package, or perhaps co-maintain it? It seems the new AUR permits multiple maintainers if that interests you, or I'd be happy to orphan it for you if want :)

I believe this should be bumped to 5 or more. It's at 4 sinc 2013 in the version you forked from, already:

pkgdesc="mkinitcpio hook to autoscale the rootfs to the size of the partition"

To my understanding, it not only resizes the file system but the partition too. Actually that's the part that cloud-init cannot take over so pkgdesc could use an update in that regard.
