dotapatch's Issues

Implement log

using_log.py

import logging
from logging import getLevelName as get_level
import argparse
import aux

parser = argparse.ArgumentParser(description='A test script')
parser.add_argument(
    '--debug', help='debug output verbose',
    action='store_const', dest='log_level', const='DEBUG', default='INFO')
parser.add_argument(
    '--save-log', help='save log output',
    action='store_true', dest='save_log')
args = parser.parse_args()

log_config = {
    'format': '%(levelname)s %(message)s',
    'level': get_level(args.log_level)
}

if args.save_log:
    save_config = {
        'filename': 'example.log', 'filemode': 'w',
        'format': '''
%(asctime)s (%(name)s.%(module)s, line %(lineno)d)
%(levelname)s %(message)s'''
    }
    log_config.update(save_config)

logging.basicConfig(**log_config)
logger = logging.getLogger('dotapatch')
logger.debug('var x = 1')
logger.info('next message will be a warning')
logger.warning('about to go into dotapatch.aux')
aux.main()
logger.critical('cant recovery')

aux.py

import logging

def main():
    logger = logging.getLogger('dotapatch')
    logger.error('error in aux')

Initial Update

Hi ๐Ÿ‘Š

This is my first visit to this fine repo, but it seems you have been working hard to keep all dependencies updated so far.

Once you have closed this issue, I'll create separate pull requests for every update as soon as I find one.

That's it for now!

Happy merging! ๐Ÿค–

Add try on __main__.py

This is an ideia.

Description

Remove raise raise SystemExit(-1), and only raise true exceptions. Handle the exceptions on __main__.py:

dotapatch = Dotapatch(args.file, args.template)

try:
    sys_exit(dotapatch.parse())
except (ExceptionType1, ExceptionType1, ExceptionTypeEtc) as err:
    handle(err)

Add 'parser' argument for generating standalone HTML code

The generated HTML relies on the content of the css/ folder (css, fonts and images).
Add an argument to allow the generation of HTML code which points to remote css, fonts and images.

P.S. #6 (Create a 'theme' file and add '--theme' argument) should help to solve this.

Add patch change by hero

Describe the solution you'd like
I wonder if you can add a feature: parse change by hero.

Describe alternatives you've considered
It will show all the changes from patch 6.88e to 7.19 for a selected hero.

Additional context

Create '--force-data-update'

--file should not be required.

  1. If --force-data-update was called alone, update data/*data
  2. If --force-data-update was called alongside --file, update data/*data and outupt <filename>.html
  3. If --file was called alone, output <filename>.html
  4. If none of the above, ask for user input('Enter the filename: ')

Create a logging helper class

This is an ideia.

Description

Create a helper class to manage the app's logging.

Example:

def _critical(self, msg, err):
    self.logger.error(msg)
    self.logger.critical('{}: {}'.format(err.__class__.__name__, err))
    raise SystemExit(-1)

This is from model.py but could be used by other classes as well.

Improve setup.py

REMEMBER

Use twine -r pypitest

maybe add

    'Operating System :: MacOS',
    'Operating System :: Microsoft :: Windows',

also

    Programming Language :: Python
    Programming Language :: Python :: 2
    Programming Language :: Python :: 2.3
    Programming Language :: Python :: 2.4

2

Come up with a way to

  1. README.md to use relative links
  2. PyPIREADME.md to use absolute links

3

Update README.md

  • dotapatch usage (showing the --help and what each option do)
  • test dotapatch inside a locked dir (that requires sudo) to see what error it throws
  • installing
    • pip install
    • setup.py install
  • tests (tox)
  • add pip badge

4

Create FAQ (and link it in READMEs) for helping people use pip install --user (fixing ubuntu $PATH)
