Expansion scenarios for the East North Atlantic (ENA) site
This thread is for discussing opportunities to expand LASSO to do simulations at ARM's East North Atlantic (ENA) atmospheric observatory. Some background information can be found in the associated blog entry. Additional discussion threads will be created as the LASSO Expansion blog series focuses on additional sites.
How would you use LASSO simulations for ENA? What types of research would they benefit and how would you apply them? How would you configure a high-resolution model at ENA to complement ARM's observations? Should the model aim to capture mesoscale organization or focus on smaller cloud details? How would you deal with handling island effects on the cloud field?

Expansion scenarios for deep convection at SGP
This thread is for discussing opportunities to expand LASSO to do simulations of deep convection at ARM's Southern Great Plains (SGP) location in Oklahoma. Some background information can be found in the associated blog entry . Additional discussion threads will be created as the LASSO Expansion blog series focuses on additional sites.
How would you configure routine simulations of deep convection for ARM? How would you prioritize in relation to other LASSO expansion scenarios, such as those discussed in previous posts in this series? What observations would you want included in the data bundle? What new observations would ARM need to add to complement and/or evaluate the LES? What science questions would you like the simulations to support?

Expansion scenarios for clear-air turbulence
This thread is for discussing opportunities to expand LASSO to do simulations of clear-air turbulence at one of the U.S. Department of Energy Atmospheric Radiation Measurement facility's atmospheric observatories. Some background information can be found in the associated blog entry. Other themes for expansion scenarios are discussed in the LASSO Expansion blog series.
How would you configure routine simulations of clear-air turbulence to complement ARM's measurements? How would you prioritize this category in relation to other LASSO expansion scenarios, such as those discussed in previous posts in this series? What observations would you want included in the data bundle? What new observations would ARM need to add to complement and/or evaluate the LES? What science questions would you like the simulations to support?

Expansion scenarios for the Arctic: MOSAiC and/or NSA
This thread is for discussing opportunities to expand LASSO to do simulations in the Arctic, either for the MOSAiC field campaign or at the North Slope of Alaska (NSA) atmospheric observatory. Some background information can be found in the associated blog entry. Additional discussion threads will be created as the LASSO Expansion blog series focuses on additional sites.
How would you use LASSO simulations in the Arctic? What types of research would they benefit and how would you apply them? How would you configure a high-resolution model at NSA or for MOSAiC to complement ARM's observations? What additional observations are needed? How would you deal with handling the coastline at Utqiaġvik?
