I also have this issue with DVDR iso's. A fix would be very appreciated...

Same problem for me when trying to play dvdr images. First the A/V is out of
sync. Then I uncheck the "A/V out
of sync correction" in the settings and I lose both audio and video.

Previous version working, something changed in newer version affecting /
causing
issue. Is this codec issue?

I've had luck unchecking the A/V Sync correction adding "-vf pullup" in the
decoding
section and changing the number of audio channels to 2 Channels Stereo. Not
happy
with just the 2 channel stereo option I tried changing the "audiochannels=" in
the
PMS.conf file to 5 and It also seems to work with no issue and now I get full
DD.

I have the same problem with all my iso-files. It's about 15 seconds out of
sync from
the very start of the movie and I'm not doing and fast forwards or anything.
Just
play and wait. Doesn't matter if I choose the transcoded versions or not. Same
problem everywhere. 15 sec out of sync and unchecking the A/V out of sync
renders me
without both audio and video, black screen.

Just wanted to add that I removed my 1.00 version and installed 0.99 and A/V
sync
works perfectly in that release.

weird cause there's not much changes between 2 versions on encoding options
have you tried to enable the "force framerate..." option in 1.00 ? (it's on in
0.99)

I tried enabling force framerate in 1.00 now and that does not fix the A/V sync
problem. Also still get black screen if I uncheck A/V sync correction.

can you join the debug.log file from a 1.00 run please ? (with the two
launches, with
and without the A/V sync option)

I have tried back and forth a bit now with 0.99 and 1.00 and different movies
(I only
have .iso) and 0.99 never fails to sync A/V but 1.00 always fails. So something
significant must have happened between these two versions. I'm not alone with
these
symptoms either, at least two other users states the same thing in Avforums,
that
0.99 rules with A/V sync. :o)
I hope you can find what causes this...

Using a newer version of mencoder solves the problem with version 1.01, but
playback
is stuttering then.

thanks, but you need to launch a Video, otherwise I will not be able to see
mencoder
command line :p

ideally an additional debug.log file from a 0.99 session would be great

Sorry about that... here they come.

1. 1.00 with A/V sync correction checked. A/V is out of sync.
2. 1.00 with A/V sync correction unchecked. I get black screen, no video and no
sound.
3. 0.99 with A/V sync correction unchecked. A/V is in perfect sync.

I just want to add some comments on this issue.
I am a new user and didn't have any experience with version 0.99... just tried
1.0
and 1.01

My problem with AV sync happens with DVD ISOs where audio is DD5.1, but not all
of
them... some DVDs with DD5.1 work fine.

If I turn AV sync off, video starts but no image on the PS3 and PMS shows very
high
bitrate on the mainscreen, in spite the fact that the bitrate is "-" (null) on
the
PS3

If I turn AV sync on, video starts but image on the PS3 is running much faster
than
audio.

I am haveing the same issue. I am also a new user that downloaded 1.0, so far
all of
my ISO files run out of sync if I use DD5.1 But are correct in sterio. I also
uninstalled all my codec's and installed your suggested codec's and settings
with no
change.

just want to add. after messing around I installed AVIsynth and so far it
apears
that 5.1 IS working correctly with 5.1 enabled under common decoder options,
and a/v
sync correction enabled under MEncoder

Iḿ having the same problem, also on v 1.02. Hopley you can fix it. When i
turn of AV
sync it runs great, but after enabling it A/V is just out of sync.

But when A/V sync is turned off:
DVD ISO = PERFECT
WMV, MKV HD CONTENT = Out of sync..

that's the downside of mplayer/mencoder... you're dealing now with mplayer
issues,
and not PMS ones anymore :\

that's why I implemented the dynamic A/V sync option into the #video settings#
folder, to deal with this without leaving your chair

if we identify that "this type of file" need AV sync on, end "this other type
of
file" needs AV sync off, maybe in the end I will put that by default in the code

Hi
I'm doing a major change for the upcoming version : forcefully disable this A/V
sync
option for ISO image playback ONLY (for now, maybe others video types will
follow?),
as it seems a majority of people disable it....

so, if ANYONE has troubles when:
1- he's playing an ISO/VIDEO_TS image
2- A/V is not synched when "A/V sync alternative option" is disabled, but
synched
when this option is enabled

please feedback here
thx

After installing version 1.0.2.1, if "A/V sync alternative option" is on, audio
is
out of sync for most ISO (I haven't tested them all...) ranging from a couple
of
tenths of a second to several seconds.

When "A/V sync alternative option" is off, audio is fine for ISO but pressing
the
square button to seek specific parts of the movie doesn't work anymore (it
takes a
loooooooong time to go or doesn't work at all and the playback is interrupted
with
a "Content cannot be played" or a network error.

Anyway, "A/V sync alternative option" doesn't seem to affect my other
transcoded
media (MKV, AVI) so I am leaving it off all the time.

I am running Vista Business 64bit.

I have the same experience as allfour.ca.
 - Audio is out of sync if "A/V sync alternative method" is checked.
 - When "A/V sync alternative method" is unchecked, all of the dvds that I have tried
have worked correctly (about 10 dvds, some of which had the problem when I
first
noticed this issue)
 - Square button takes a long time. I thought that this was because I was watching
over the wireless network.

I tried this with the current version of ps3 media server and streaming ISO
files still causes A/V completely out of sync.

I am currently using Media tomb which works great for ISOs and MKVs except that
the seek doesn't work and I started looking for alternatives.

I also have still having issues with 1.50.0 on Linux. DVD-ISO Audio is
horribly out of sync with any of a number of settings.

Likewise, running version 1.50.0 on linux and the A/V when playing ISOs is
terribly out of sync. Tried a number of different settings and nothing has
helped.

Still not fixed on (arch)linux 1.50.1

Subtitles are in sync with video, but audio is much too fast (or video too
slow...)

Can someone mark the bug as "new" again? This is definitely not fixed...

definitely not fixed.. i just updated to 1.72 yesterday and before that all was
fine, but now A/V is out of sync with ISO, sound is fine but video speed is
like 2x too fast. I didn't remember what version i had before so i downgraded
from version to version until it worked again with 1.54... don't ask me why!

Just tried playing an old iso that worked when I watched it a couple years ago,
and now I am getting async playback. I'll try some experimenting with the
settings to see if this can be resolved with configuration, but I would guess
this is an MEncoder issue or some sort of change with the default behavior of
MEncoder.
