I use "Start X at Login" as described here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Start_X_at_Login
I have just tested your autologin-on-boot and it works great, does exactly what it should. Only one problem: because of my .zprofile which starts X automatically, I need to logout of my window manager (awesome) twice.
Reproduction:
But logging out of window manager twice works. Is there a way to avoid this issue?
EDIT: I know you will say that autologin also starts X automatically on boot. But I might want X started automatically even on later logins which are no longer automatic logins (but X should still start).
