A simple app to watch and clean up istio-proxy sidecars in kubernetes Jobs with /quitquitquit.

Installation

helm repo add sidecar-cleaner https://opensource.aoe.com/kubernetes-sidecar-cleaner/
helm install my-sidecar-cleaner sidecar-cleaner/sidecar-cleaner

Configuration

Please check the values.yaml for possible configurations.

Contribution

Release a new app version

Create a tag/release following semantic versioning in the format of vx.y.z (eg. v1.17.5). The github worklow takes care of pushing a new container to the registry.
Update the appVersion in Chart.yaml and push the changes.
Release a new helm chart version

Release a new helm chart version

Increase the version in Chart.yaml and push the changes. The github worklow takes care of releasing a new chart version.

In or out of the mesh

Fantastic work on this.
I've one small question, should the controller be deployed so that it's within the mesh or outside of the mesh?
We've current got it deployed outside the mesh and though it's working as expected we are getting the following log outputs:

I0810 14:30:26.138112       1 cleaner.go:33] removing CRONJOB
I0810 14:30:26.153409       1 controller.go:98] Error syncing pod default/CRONJOB: unable to upgrade connection: container not found ("istio-proxy") failed executing on default/CRONJOB
