Compile errors with Arduino IDE 1.8.5

Recent versions of the IDE have the option [-fpermissive] removed so what previously counted as warnings now become fatal errors. I get the following compile errors with this library:

Error compiling for board WeMos D1 R1.

Its looks to be because A0 as pin id is not a UINT8.
