check-yo-self's Introduction

Check Yo Self - Group Project

Group Members:

  • Andrew Kinstler
  • Ben Firth
  • Scott Ertmer

A Turing School Mod 1 group project intended to develop skills around:

  • Clean & organized CSS styles
  • DRY JavaScript
  • LocalStorage to persist data
  • Iterate through/filter DOM elements using for loops
  • Understand the difference between the data model and how the data is displayed on the DOM
  • Ability to match/recreate a UI and create a great UX

Using HTML, CSS, and Javscript, the group:

  • Matched a provided static comp for both Desktop and Mobile Layouts
  • Implemented Event Bubbling in order to create dynamic elements based on user interaction
  • Instantiated objects representing user-created to-do lists, as well as objects representing the list of individual tasks within the to-do lists

Wins

  • Building and maintaining strong team relationships and communication
  • Accessing and manipulating values within objects
  • Creating dynamic DOM elements with relative ease
  • Creating styling changes based on user interaction
  • Found a good balance of knowing when to stuggle and when to ask for help

Challenges

  • Accessing and manipulating values within objects
  • Reconciling our hopes for the project with our cognitive needs

Reflections

  • This project represents a very large amount of progress
  • Even though we didn't get as far as we might have hoped, no time was wasted
  • We are > we were
  • Stuck strongly to our DTR
