synxliff's Introduction

synXLIFF

The main purpose of this repo is to track issues for the latest version of synXLIFF.

Download link: https://www.synalis.de/synxliff/

If you encounter any problems regarding a translation of synXLIFF feel free to create a pull request. We will then look into it.

Also if your language is still missing you can create a pull request with the translated xliff file.

synxliff's Issues

Performance Issue with large Files

We have a large App with 90 mb xlf files. The import of these files takes about 40 Minutes. That´s ok for me, but the Export of the translated file does not work. I have waited over 24 hours before i killed the task of the nav Server.

Do you see any possibilty to improve the performance of the export?

Not clever enough to install the extension on BC15.0

Seems that I am not clever enough to install the extension.telling me:
error AL1024: A package with publisher 'Microsoft', name 'Application', and a version compatible with '13.0.0.0' could not be loaded

Is there a newer version than 1.0.3.2 compiled for BC13??

Unknown object types.

In the list of translations all object types are not supported. E.g. for a table extension it says "Unknown"

Path on project

Could you store the path when you do the first import and than default to that path when importing/exporting? Today it's a lot of clicking to get to the right path if since I have more than one project.

Importing long labels

When importing the original from "Process" -> "Import File", you are getting text overflow errors when the original label contains more than 1024 characters.

Changed caption in g.xlf

If you change the caption in the al file the translation should be set to "New" in all languages since the developer changed his mind on what to call the field

Import of new *.g.xlf should update existing languages

If I import a new *.g.xlf where a new field has been added with the same caption as an existing the already imported languages should be updated. The last line below should have got "Transport" as translation. Maybe the status should be set to "Review" or something simliar and before export the could be a warning if X lines has status = Review and Y lines has status = New.

Simliar if I update an already existing translation I should get a question like "There are X other lines with the same source text.\Do you want to update these?" Of course only in the same language as I'm currently editing.

Export/Import to/from Excel

This is a feature requesst.

Let's say you have done a translation using Dynamics LCS. Next step can be to send that translation to someone for review. The easiest way I think is using Excel. Then it would be great to be able to export the translation to excel and after review import it back to the project.

Auto translation translates in all languages

There's a missing filter on target language in the function that auto translates other lines with the same source caption. I was working on swedish translation and found that also the danish translations was automatically updated.

Blank option values

If the first optioncaption is a blank value it is no longer there after exporting from synXLIFF

Before import:

After import in synXLIFF and export again:

Locked captions shouldn't be translated

There are some captions with the "Locked" property set to true, meaning it shouldn't be translated. It doesn't seem that the tool handles these captions. When imported it shows as a normal caption with "New" status. It would be nice if we can filter these out from the list.

Example:
Text000: Label '<Month Text>', Locked = true;

<trans-unit id="Table 591945447 - NamedType 2476940767" size-unit="char" translate="no" xml:space="preserve"> <source>&lt;Month Text&gt;</source> <note from="Developer" annotates="general" priority="2"></note> <note from="Xliff Generator" annotates="general" priority="3">Table XY - NamedType Text000</note> </trans-unit>

warning AL0472: The source of the translation item does not match the label value

I imported the myapp.g.xlf together with myapp.sv.xlf and myapp.en.xlf. These three files are already fully functional and can be used for build and compile with no errors or warnings.

When I export myapp.sv.xlf and myapp.en.xlf from synXLIFF (without doing any changes) to my repo and try to build again I get warnings on two translation items in the sv and en file. The warning is:

myapp.en.xlf(816,25): warning AL0472: The source of the translation item does not match the label value. Ignoring the translation item.

The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure

Often when i open the list of projects I get this error message. Only in RTC so far, but I haven't run synXLIFF in the web client that much yet. If I restart the RTC it works. Also if I refresh in the address bar.

2018-12-13_08-10-16

This is parts of what Fiddler catches of that call:

CONNECT synbc.table.core.windows.net:443 HTTP/1.1
Host: synbc.table.core.windows.net

No languages in new company

If I create a new company in a database where I have installed synXLIFF I get no languages in the language table

Choose Project Code manually

Can you change so it's possible to set the Project Code manually? Today we have two projects for the same product but for different BC version. That means that today we need to keep the two translations projects in two different companyes in the translation database.

Saving default translations

When saving default translations I have to confirm duplicates. Often you have multiple fields with the same caption and translation and now you have to confirm each one of these.

Keep up the good work. You have a great tool!

Easier to se where translations are missing

It would be great to see the number of translations with status "New" in the project list. That way you can see how many terms there are left to translate. A drilldown should take you to a list of translations lines where the language is visible as a column. It should be possible to work with translations directly in this list.

Also when you click Edit to work on the translations as today there should be a checkbox that when selected only shows lines with status New (or something simlar to make it easier to focus on the work that needs to be done).

Download Issue

Hi,

i have tried to download the extension, but it is not working in IE or Opera.

Thanks.

Translation suggestions from standard BC

Let's say you have field names like "Location Code", "Customer No." etc in an app. Then it would be nice to get translations for these from the BC database where synXLIFF is running.

The 'al-object-target' attribute is not declared

I get this error when trying to import an xlf file: Imported XML cannot validate with the schema: The 'al-object-target' attribute is not declared.

LogTrade Connect.g.zip

BC15.0.35903.0-se
al-4.0.170493.vsix

I would really appriciate if you could prioritize this since it's a blocker for the BC15 version of our app.

Thanks!

Feature: Tranlation from Standardtranslation

I have imported our tranlationexcelsheet into the "synXLIFF Default Translation"-table and now iam searching for a possibilty to translate the records in "synXLIFF Translation" with this dictionary.

Change default filename on export

Currently the default filename does only contain the country part of an language code:

MyApp.fr.xliff

Please change it to contain the full language code:

MyApp.fr-ca.xliff

Thats the way we have to provide these data to Microsoft and its necessary to difference multi country languages like spanish (sp+mx), french (be+ca+ch+fr), english (au+ca+gb+nz+us+za), german (de+ch+at), ....
