spotifynotifier's Introduction

SpotifyNotifier is an application which notifies current playing song in Spotify on a Windows system.

Currently supports notification applications like Growl, Snarl, Notifu.

For installation instruction visit http://code.google.com/p/spotifynotifier/

Special Thanks to BrendanMcK(http://stackoverflow.com/users/660175/brendanmck) for his contribution.

These are a couple of improvements in the new version of spotifynotifiergrowl:

  1. Now no need to register the application with growl manually. Check "notifygrowl.cs" for relevant code.

  2. Now displays album-cover/album-art of the current playing track in the notification.

  3. Hide the window after running the ".exe" application. Check "CustomNoWindow.bat" for relevance.

  4. Now it doesn't dislpay the track notification when you play again after the spotify is paused.

Thanks to Matthew Javellana @ [email protected] for the above improvements.

Improvements in version 1.2 for spotifynotifiergrowl:

  1. Now uses Growl C# API to register application and to show notifications so dependency on growlnotify.exe removed

  2. As some of the methods were not supported for .NET < 4.0 so now the zip includes

2.1) SpotifyNotifyGrowl_NET2.0.exe for those who are using .NET version 2.0 (I suppose nobody is).

2.2) SpotifyNotifyGrowl_NET3.5.exe for those who are using .NET version 3.5.

2.3) SpotifyNotifyGrowl.exe for those who are using .NET version 4.0.

  3. It also includes a compile_NET4.0.bat file to compile the project after making some changes to it.

spotifynotifier's Issues

SpotifyNotifierSnarl Keeps Unregistering Itself

Hey,

SpotifyNotifierSnarl keeps unregistering itself. And then registering itself.

Seems it does NOT work correctly if spotify is in the notification area (system
tray).

As long as spotify stays in the taskbar then no such problem.

Very annoying and who keeps spotify in taskbar 24/7 anyways? Not me!!

Thanks,

Will

Notfier only works when command line is open

What steps will reproduce the problem?
I've tried multiple versions and I can only get the notification to pop up with
the track being played when I have SpotifyNotifierGrowl.exe open. Am I missing
some critical step for copying files to another directory?

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect the notification to be running in the background, without a command
window open, instead it only works when I have the command window open.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.2 on Windows XP Service Pack 3

Requires .NET 3.5 have 4.5 on Windows 8.1

When I try to use this on Windows 8.1 it complains that .NET 3.5 isn't
installed.

I really don't want to install 3.5, is the source available for me to just
re-compile it to work with .NET 4.5? I'd love to have this working.

Thanks.
