I'll be honest: I don't know that much Java, and a direct Java -> Python port == Bad Idea.

So, we need a 4-piece puzzle solved:

• A piece that opens the MIDI file, and serializes it (this may actually be several)
• A piece that takes the serialized data, and sends it via serial to Arduino
• A piece that hooks the above two together.
• A front-end interface

Why separate pieces? Well, I want other Python programs to work with the devs' preferred GUI, and I've got in mind something that takes live MIDI signal and pushes it to the Arduino, all headless.

Speaking of which... @Sammyiam, do you have the MoppySerial API (whatever it's called) handy? That documentation would make this, and other ports, much easier... Just not seeing it.
