linear-discord-serverless's Introduction

linear-discord-serverless

Get linear's events forwarded to Discord webhooks through Vercel serverless functions.

Installation

Please visit lds.alistair.cloud which documents the setup. In short, we form a URL that contains the Discord webhook ID and Token, and use that as our linear URL. That way we can use the body with ID and Token in a stateless environment.

Video Guide

I've made a small video guide to visually demonstrate setup. You can watch it on YouTube.

Credits

This project is heavily inspired by @ezolla's amazing linear-app-discord. If you're looking for more control over the data sent, I recommend checking that out.

linear-discord-serverless's Issues

Expand text richness on events

I really like your work and probably support this as well.

We are using it for our KodaDot discord and so far it's amazing.

I've found that missing fields like who updated the issue
and whenever someone creates a comment on an issue, add some name of an issue to see a bit more context of "update" in the channel, so I don't need to click on it

I'm thinking to support this integration to keep it running:)

Feature request yo

Dear Alistair,

as a part of an open source project that is an avid fan and user of this wonderful service, I'd like to thank you for the great work you've done!
I have a few suggestions I'd like to share with you in case you're looking for some feedback!
Considering that each Linear issue holds valuable information, I think it would be neat to see the issue title and priority also displayed in the embed that is sent through the webhook.
In my opinion, you can display the priority in a field in the embed's body and the issue title in the embed title.
Hope you have a wonderful day! :)

Sincerely yours,
Marin.

Add more context to comment event

Kira vs Kira2 (new one)

In the new version, I would deduplicate information on comment, or that's because it's using my personal token?

Plus I would add context, i.e. which issue was commented, i.e. incl. starting 5-7 words from issue name to the message and identifier, in this case, KOD-216

Happy to test it, give feedback and use it long-term! :)

Missing issue creation subject

I would propose to put the Issue number on start and subject afterwards.

The same format could be going for comment as it would be more uniformed then?

Only things I've spotted for now!:)
