The Akka family of projects is managed by teams at Lightbend with help from the community.

Please see the quickstart guide for a walk through the code.

akka-http-quickstart-java.g8's Issues

Update to newer version of Akka HTTP when available

In the new version of Akka HTTP the HttpApp changed one signature from route to routes. Please adapt this as well, and add a comment stating that this was called route in previous versions. Just in case somebody wants to use the seed for different Akka HTTP versions.

NoSuchElementException when asking for a non existing user

GET http://localhost:8080/users/user-4

[ERROR] [03/06/2018 17:38:41.501] [helloAkkaHttpServer-akka.actor.default-dispatcher-8] [akka.actor.ActorSystemImpl(helloAkkaHttpServer)] Error during processing of request: 'No value present'. Completing with 500 Internal Server Error response. To change default exception handling behavior, provide a custom ExceptionHandler.
java.util.NoSuchElementException: No value present
at java.base/java.util.Optional.get(Optional.java:151)
at com.lightbend.akka.http.sample.UserRoutes.lambda$getUser$4(UserRoutes.java:75)

UserRoutes makes use of the deprecated akka.pattern.PatternsCS.ask(...) method

Versions used

Akka version: 2.5.22

Akka Http version: 10.1.8

Expected Behavior

The UserRoutes.java class does not have any compiler warnings due to deprecation.

Actual Behavior

UserRoutes.java makes use of the akka.pattern.PatternsCS.ask(...) method, which is deprecated.

My acutal message to you

Thanks for providing this example, I am new to akka and currently trying to learn it.
I am going to provide a PR, which fixes the described issue.
IMHO learning by contributing is the best way to become an expert. ;-)

Package name

The package name is currently fixed at com.lightbend.akka, we might want to use the 'organization' for that.
