python-apache-kafka-tutorial's Issues

Add 0-setup notebook

What is currently missing?

Currently the setup is in the README and not in the notebooks with the other notebooks.

This creates two spaces of exploration in the section.

I propose a 0-setup.ipynb notebook that runs through many of the setup steps that are split currently between the readme and some steps in the notebooks themselves.

How could this be improved?

  • All the instructions are in the notebooks.
  • You can then add a menu that shows where you are in the process and how to move to the next one.

Is this a feature you would work on yourself?

  • I plan to open a pull request for this feature (pending)

Emoji explaining markdown blocks

What is currently missing?

Notebooks are fantastic for combining explanation, instruction and code.

There are times where I'm going back and forth between code and instructions especially when troubleshooting or trying to better understand what is happening.

How could this be improved?

We can use some emojis to items that are instructions for the following code block.

This could be a brain ๐Ÿง  , a muscle ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ , a pencil โœ๏ธ

Is this a feature you would work on yourself?

  • I plan to open a pull request for this feature

Remove the JupyterLab

What can we help you with?

In the workshops we don't ever cover the setup for jupyterLab? We use Codespaces or GitPod.

Can we remove the section from the readme.

(I have a pending PR for this change)

Where would you expect to find this information?
