You've mentioned that you're using ubuntu 18.04. Can you also confirm the versions for React, MySQL and Java for your environment?

Yeah, sure:
mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.7.31, for Linux

Java:
openjdk version "1.8.0_265"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_265-8u265-b01-0ubuntu2~18.04-b01)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.265-b01, mixed mode)

And react I assumed was installed when I ran npm install
In package.json is 15.0.0

In an ideal scenario, you don't have to do this. I would suggest you upgrade React to 16 and see if the issue is persisting. Let me know.

If it's still doesn't render anything, allow me some time to recreate your env on my end and test.

Now I got this. With react 16.14.0 and react-dom 16.14.0
