There's no info about what ADI is. This could be somewhere on the homepage (sticky post?), or a standalone about page.
embed mailchimp thing? does that exist?
guys, it looks tacky.
let's capitalize on the sidebar
That would be sweet so that we can drive people to the site!
copy over from old site
i.e. github, twitter, fb
i like them better there, fwiw
I tried and wasn't able to figure out where to put it.
doesn't match the normal content feed's css
In fact, I just tried to share Howie's UNIX Tutorial to Facebook.
Chris mentioned it would be nice to have something set up where we can list the resources from our workshops, etc. Like slides. I like this a lot.
doesn't look great right now, and doesn't really work well with the site as it is
this is part of a larger problem of boring grays, but we can specifically improve this by:
Track our traffic!
I think expected behavior is to enlarge the image in a sort of overlay. See: bwog
I might be wrong, though. That's just what I expected instead of going to a new site or downloading a pdf
The date seems a little cramped, and too close to the line, maybe put it on the right side of the title panel, or a little whitespace buffer.
it should clearly indicate by some logo that it's going to do that or put the content in a div on our own site. Probably the former makes more sense.
Because right now it's not. At all. Well, like it is kinda, but it looks terrible when you make the window smaller.
RSS feed is at /atom.xml
a lot of things that are classes should be ids
we should use classes better
.sidebar should have a min-height.
html {height: 101%;}
^ so that the scrollbar doesn't randomly appear/disappear
I think this would go a long way towards resolving the issues raised in #29
a lot of our site looks awkward just due to the way we whitespace. let's fix that.
maybe move away from buttons? or just float them down?
Using http://webchat.freenode.net/ in an iframe, perhaps
we should have the konami code easter egg and a giant star that says newcomer in the middle pops up and some awesome music(TBD) starts playing
I'm not exactly sure what the best solution is here.
My proposal:
We might consider making the hover
color the background color (#76bfe5
), but this of course causes problems with the logo. This can be solved by adding a white stroke around the whole logo. We may even have a version of that already, I'll check and update this issue.
The hover color can then become white, and the text color doesn't need to be changed.
In general, I think this looks better by adding color to the site and making it feel less static and dry, visually speaking. It also makes the text on the sidebar pop more, because black on gray sort of blends in a little too much.
Aditya Majumdar SEAS '16 -> SEAS '15
it should either be a mailto or should (preferably) be the social, networking, etc shit.
So the website looks cool in a window, but in full screen the left-alignment is somewhat tacky. One possible idea would be, instead of having the menu on the left, center the menu and content on the window, letting the menu's darker color fade to white on the far left. This would balance the whitespace better, and shorten the post-dividing lines that extend awkwardly to the right side of the screen.
i don't think it should say home, i think it should say Application Development Initiative
see projects page right now for why we need this
We should limit the number of posts per page and then let you look at old posts.
Idk what looks good. I just updated with better helvetica but i think it might be a bit too thin. but it's really pretty. lemme know if you guys have font suggestions.
should be RSS friendly
right now it's black which is harsh. esp. "application development initiative" right next to the logo
We have categories for our posts, but no view for the categories
http://adicu.com/about.html <-- this is not sorted. It should be.
Not sure if it's better to jQuery sort it or to just manually do it, though. It's currently hardcoded...
Do we want an archive of our posts?
Tell me how to run this locally so i don't wind up having to use the live site as a test-bed
it's outdated
see comment for current state.
possibly picture on the left with info on the right or vice versa
That lets you pick your template, than puts a file with the proper name+date in the _posts directory
We should consider doing what syte does and having our own skin on that same data. Not sure if this makes sense or not, but discuss.

It looks pretty plain. (It looks almost exactly as above) Maybe a big image background like http://hackersatberkeley.com/ ?
and does not appear to be part of the site
mailing list signup is cut off now. we should figure out how to be able to make the navbar scrollable
Until we have a separate website/domain for devfest, should we port over the devfest page from the old website to the new one? And stick it under the events page? Because I feel like we don't want to lose the old stuff we've done, idk. It sort of has a record of what we've done thus far.
I think it benefits no one to see the date when a post was made, and at any rate may confuse people when it comes to event posts.
It would be more useful to take up the space with a line saying the post type (event, project, or resource).
