oi-graphite

Install and configure the Graphite metrics storage monitoring system on OpenIndiana Hipster.

Limitations

  • Not all permission issues resolved.
  • Only configures single, local instance.
  • FIXED, disabled in config: whisper.py auto-detection of fallocate fails on ZFS: see graphite-project/whisper#79
  • Variables need documenting.
  • Still a work in progress.

PYTHONPATH is incomplete

PYTHONPATH should include {{ graphite_dir }}/webapp as well - set fact to hold correct path and use in tasks.
local_settings.py should then go in webapp/graphite/
This will probably fix issues with django collectstatic too; need to add that as another task.

Remove install options from pip install

Specifying prefix and install-lib options to pip messes up the Graphite install, resulting in dependencies and modules being installed in inappropriate places - hence the confusion over the correct location of local_settings.py and static files. Use the defaults (no idea how you're supposed to install Graphite in a non-standard location with pip - advice would appear to be "don't").

Remove the install-option arguments from the pip task.
