abtech.org's Issues

Revise Request Form Text

Please submit at most one request per event. If your event has multiple dates with multiple parts (i.e. rehearsals, multiple setup times, etc.), then please note the additional parts in the details box below.

change to: Please submit only one request per event. etc. etc.

Also remove comma from "Please contact us before reserving a venue and confirming show time, so that we can estimate the time required for our setup and teardown."

Generate events pages from a data file.

The events pages are currently just HTML claiming to be Markdown, and are a bit of a pain to edit (see #60). Would be nice to leverage Django to have these be generated from one or more data filse with fields along the lines of:

date: 2016-04-15
title: Griz and Dan Deacon
location: Wiegand Gym
description: AB Spring Concert.

It would have to take care of events without known dates. Perhaps events without full dates should just sort as closely as they can, in the same logical order as they appear in the file?

Two Level Navigation from Header

Maybe we could do a hover dropdown from the menu bar.

For "services/equipment" tab, maybe have the 3 options as a drop down that appears upon mouse-over (design choice)

I think this could also apply to the People tab, and past events, / anything with the sub header once you click it.

mmackie style stuff

and while I'm being picky, the transparency on the top navigation looks bad (it should really just be solid)
it also bothers me that the non-main pages have such a light background

Font readability

Some of the grey text could be made to stand out a bit more for better readability

FAQ page

I think we should have an FAQ page

Add photos/descriptions of recent events

We should have photos of recent events with short captions

Maybe similar to hughies.com/portfolio but doesn't have to be that complicated
Or maybe we can just embed our facebook posts?

I think this is really important! Our "past events" page hasn't been updated for like 10 years.

Request Form Structure Change

I think the flow of the event request form doesn't make sense – for example, "please contact us before reserving a venue" shouldn’t come at the end of the form.

What if the form is broken into several pages, with a next button and a progress bar? 1 page each for contact, event time, location, etc. Then you can put notes under each section.
a. Like in the Details page, add note: “Please note in the details section if the event times provided include setup/teardown time for AB Tech, and how much time is allocated for AB Tech. We will provide an estimate time required for setup/teardown based on the event request. (this section should really go under “End Time”, but seems harder to add a text box there than just using the details section)

Expiring welcome emails

Our second bullet on emails to interested members is time sensitive. An automated way to schedule these would be cool. Probably over-engineering but...so is this site.

Wiki and Tracker Links

We should probably have wiki and tracker links. Where do you think they should go though?

aTIC Position

Can the aTIC position have full access to the event mainly invoices.

New Member Creation - Not Possible

So when I go to create a new member, everything works fine until I get to submitting the form when it tells me password can't be left blank, however I cannot see a password field from Tracker Management, Exec or HoT permission levels.

Services page edits

  1. Fix typo in Lighting: we can provide lighting on the ground for small shows or setup (set up) spans of overhead…
  2. Rewrite Lighting to match the tone and style of Sound
  3. Staging: remove "additional" in "If your event requires additional staging material,"
  4. Rewrite SM to match tone and style - it also makes quite a statement upfront
  5. Add Rigging: example text - "Shows that require overhead rigging for sound and lighting will require safe assembly and operation of all rigging equipment. We carry an array of rigging gear and are able to assemble a rig suitable for your needs."
  6. Replace a concert photo or add a speaker event lighting photo

Monitoring

Should probably know that the site is down before anyone else...
