liftoff-assignments's Introduction

Start Here!

Welcome to Liftoff! We are excited to have you in this course.

You are currently viewing the Liftoff Assignments Repository. This repo contains information about all of the assignments in the course, and will be how you will submit much of your work.

Repo Explanation

In Liftoff we are focusing on two things: your Personal Project, and Career Readiness skills. Throughout this course you will have assignments related to both of those core areas. Looking through this repo you can see Personal Project assignments, and Career Readiness assignments.

Personal Project Assignments are flagged with P#, and Career Readiness assignments are flagged with C#, both are followed by the name of the assignment.

You will use this repository in tandem with Canvas. All of your grades will be recorded in Canvas, however you will submit your work through this GitHub repository.

We are making you use GitHub for two important reasons:

  1. You will get more practice with GitHub
  2. Your assignments are all stored in one place

Next Step

Now that you know what this repo is for let's get it setup.

Project Outline Feedback

This project seems well-thought out and achievable. The image upload is ambitious - partially because it's hard in and of itself, and partially because deploying it on a for-real website should happen for it to count. Deployment is not hard, it's just one. more. thing. But these are all skills that you can talk about in an interview and employers will highly value.

I look forward towards seeing your wireframes and tables and where the project goes in general.

Feedback for Project Planning

Nice work!
I'm marking this as complete. A few finer points to keep in mind:

Most of your user stories are of the form: "As an X, I want to Y". The canonical form also adds a 'why': "As an X, I want to Y, so that Z". Then there's another school of thought that says that the card of a story is mainly a placeholder for spurring conversations, and the conversations are the real value. Eh, shrug, It's whatever works for you and your team, I suppose.

Typically people have one wireframe per page. The way you did it with the animated flows is awesome, and as far as I know an innovation. Nice work!!!!!

Random bit of advice: commit to git very, very often. I only see 5 commits on your project. My recommendation would be to commit after every single change that doesn't break everything. When you break everything, you'll be grateful to be able to pinpoint it to a single tiny chunk of changes made in the last 5 minutes, rather than wondering how you're going to find it in all the changes you've made over the last week. I honestly commit every 20-40 minutes. It saves me a lot of heartache when it's time to hunt bugs.

You're making good progress on your backlog. You've "got high velocity", as they say. That's awesome too. I feel really good about your progress.
