I can confirm this problem for email too.
I wanted to use SSO but I didn't found any docs how to use it.

In the first example, you need to enable the Google+ Social API, in the latter, your mail server is misconfigured.

I meant it isn't correctly configured in Zulip.
See https://github.com/zulip/zulip/blob/master/zproject/local_settings_template.py#L40 ; specifically, the password (if required) must be specified in /etc/zulip/zulip-secrets.conf.

Though, I did follow the instructions in your specified file and entered the password in the file you specified. The error must be due to something else.
