Known issue: #8540 that can be fixed by using the latest Avalonia version 11 for this release.
As you stated this is not a new issue, it should be fixed with Avalonia 11, but not for the next release unfortunately.

RC4 worked fine again after restarting the desktop app indeed.
On pr/10423:
There is a similar bug where the GUI becomes an empty glass window, but it does not crash!
Also after minimizing and opening again via the tray it looks and works completely fine again, so should be a good enough fix.
