add-apt-repository seems redundant to me. If we want the user to do gymnastics before he can use the software, then we should only have one routine, the one we already have, rather than multiple ones.

Regarding Snap. I'm not convinced it's worth it at this point. To maximize value delivery, we should focus on the big rather than the small ones. Although I'm usually not against minor improvements, the more things we add, the more things can go wrong, and the more work we create for the release managers: @adamPetho and @molnard.

That's just my two cents; we'll have a round-robin meeting on this topic, so stay tuned.

APT (Linux/Debian)

Wasabi already has .deb packages. this would mean just hosting them at Wasabi repository, then user could just add-apt-repository and then apt install. Should not be hard, I'm doing such things with Gentoo Linux for years. This would be the right step to do first, before trying to push for #9801.

Snap (Linux)

I'm not too familiar with this (have only installed some stuff that way), but by looking at this PR for JoinMarket, also doesn't look like a rocket science.

I just want to highlight that with add-apt-repository, the update [not installation] of Wasabi is more smooth than currently, because it will be automagically upgraded with apt update; apt upgrade.

Note that add-apt-repository is how Bitcoin Knots and Tor does this currently. Also, haven't used Ubuntu with a GUI for a years, but there was some GUI tool too to add new repositories, install and update software too.

Just noticed Bitcoin Core is also distributed via Snap too - https://snapcraft.io/bitcoin-core.
