feature request: hiera support for most settings about puppet-bsd HOT 3 CLOSED

I believe this is what I'm doing currently, though outside of the module. Probably something like a lookup() call combined with create_resources() is what I'm using and has been working well for years. Perhaps at least a documentation update or something so users have clues about how to perform the above would be in order though.

This is what sort of thing I'm doing.

class profile::network::interfaces {

  case $::osfamily {
    /(Open|Free)BSD/: {
      include bsd::network

      # Manage physical interfaces
      $interfaces = hiera_hash('bsd::network::interface', {})
      create_resources('bsd::network::interface', $interfaces)
    }
  }
}

For trunks, vlans, etc, I'm doing something pretty similar.

class profile::network::interfaces::trunk {
  include profile::network::interfaces

  case $::osfamily {
    /(Open|Free)BSD/: {
      # Setup the trunk interfaces
      $trunk_interfaces = hiera_hash('bsd::network::interface::trunk', {})
      create_resources('bsd::network::interface::trunk', $trunk_interfaces)
    }
  }
}

I think that covers the use case that you're after. I'll close this out if that is sufficient guidance for your needs. Let me know if you have questions above the above.
