It does not, it just hangs and never finds the file.

Thanks for submitting your issue.

I'll look into the lsof problem.

About the 'aliases' thing, it seems your cache is too old. Does it get fixed if you re-retrieve the list? (Options -> Retrieve list)

In case you care...

Updating the cache resolves the file retrieval errors and allows the player to launch with the episode. Thanks for the tip.

lsof warning remains though.

I also just want to say that this is the most feature-complete Linux client I've seen to date. Great job so far.

Glad to know that. In any case, the version in the develop branch checks if the cache is too old and re-downloads the list automatically, I'll merge to master soon.

lsof warning remains though.

The lsof warning seems to be a problem with the media tracker (the process that detects if you're playing an episode in the background). If you start playing an episode manually, does it detect it?

z411 avatar z411 commented on August 22, 2024

It seems that there's a FUSE virtual filesystem mounted in your system. That's normal and the warning is just telling you that it doesn't have access permission for it, but it shouldn't matter.

It should be safe to ignore this warning and the media tracker should work properly (that is, detect a media player open in the background). If it doesn't please post it here.

Tracker does not detect anything even if I start the file manually with the player I've specified in settings.

Doesn't matter if it's mplayer/mplayer2/smplayer/mpv/vlc/etc.

z411 avatar z411 commented on August 22, 2024

Please keep in mind that it might take up to 2 minutes to detect it. A faster way to see if the tracker is working is to open the player first and then open wmal. It should immediately say "Detected player with show <...>" in the status bar. If it doesn't react at all then we have a problem...

Didn't get "Detected player with show"

Oh nice, it seems to be working, your episode should get updated automatically after that time.

As I said before the default check interval (call to lsof) is 2 minutes. I think that's enough if you're watching a 24 minute episode, but if you prefer it to react faster, you can reduce the "tracker_interval" in the ~/.wmal/config.json file.

And thanks for helping me debug, if you have any suggestions to avoid people getting confused, or if you find any other problem don't hesitate to post it. I hope the program is useful to you.
