That seems like a reasonable option to have. I'd do this based on a config flag, and the place to make the change would be here. Currently, the bot tries to resolve the shortened urls to the original source, so it would be easy enough to add another step to swap Twitter urls with Nitter ones there.

Should just be a matter of replacing the function with the following:

(defn resolve-urls [text]
    (cond-> text
            (:resolve-urls? mastodon-config)
            (string/replace shortened-url-pattern resolve-url)
            (:nitter-urls? mastodon-config)
            (string/replace #"https://twitter.com" "https://nitter.net")))

and then you should be able to set :nitter-urls? true in the config to do the replacements. If you can try it locally to see that it's working as intended, I can add that in.

from mastodon-bot.
