Highlighting empty lines about indentline HOT 6 CLOSED

This problem has been bothering me all the time. I have no solution.

Hm I'm wondering how e.g. set list listchars=eol:¶does it.
I'm trying to highlight beginning and end of line since a couple of hours now with no success. Seems like this does not work with e.g. syntax match NonText /[\n]/ conceal cchar=¶

I tried that already but it cuts off the last character of each line unfortunately. Additionally it doesn't highlight eol on lines where I don't have any text.

We should probably think about a potential new Vim feature that would enable us to do this and then propose it to the Vim authors. As far as i can see, we need two things:

• extend syntax match such that it is able to match an empty line e.g. /^$/
• extend conceal such that it is able to produce more than one character

Or, of course, create an alternative to conceal that would allow similar behavior. What do you guys think? Are there any downsides to this approach you can think of?
