I can't reproduce this. Could you describe how you installed wxFB? Did you download a .deb from sourceforge? Did you build it from source? Did you use pasgui's repository? Did you use the launchpad respository? Something else?

I used both the deb-package privide by you at the launchpad repository (wxformbuilder_3.0.56.2-0ubuntu1~gutsy1_i386.deb) and the binary sources from sourcesforge (wxFormBuilder_v3.0.56-RC8_i386.tar.bz2). So the problem must be somewhere in my system's configuration. And I figured out that the wx library was build from the sources, beside the machine is a brand new ubuntu gutsy installation (Sorry, I was not aware of that fact at the time I was posting). WX was build from the source-bundle provided at the wxPython's sourceforge site (wxPython-src-2.8.7.1.tar.bz2). If this case is still interesting for you, I can give you more details on that custom wx inallation and make sure that this crash does not occur with the wx from the ubuntu repositories.

I'd appreciate if you would confirm that it does not crash with the stock wx libraries.

Other than that, there are many ways to build wx from source such that it does not work properly, so I do not see any benefit from researching the details of this particular crash, as far as wxFB is concerned.

Thanks for your help.

I cannot confirm that it does not crash with the stock wx libraries. With the wx libraries from the ubuntu repositories I have the crash as well.

I cannot reproduce the crash with these versions of the Ubuntu packages: wxformbuilder: 3.0.56.2-0ubuntu1~gutsy1 libwxgtk2.8-0: 2.8.4.0-0ubuntu3

Could you confirm that you have the same versions and it crashes? At this point, it seems like a problem specific to your system.

Happens to me too - with stock Ubuntu 8.04 wxWidgets-libs (2.6.3, not 2.8.x) and wxFormBuilder v 3.0.57 (unicode).

This bug also occurs when loading a .fbp-file (created under Windows or manipulated by hand) containing a vertical gauge (which btw works under Windows without crashing)...

wxFormbuilder depends on wx2.8. It is surprising that you got it to work at all with wx2.6, but that is completely unsupported.

Hannes, how did you manage to install wxFB without wx2.8? Also, are you aware that wxFB is included with Ubuntu 8.04?

sudo apt-get install wxformbuilder

Okay, checked it again (via synaptic) - and true - my setup has both the libraries for 2.8.x and 2.6.3 (while the dev and dbg are only installed for 2.6.3 - there was my mistake, checked only wx-config –version )... seems impossible to have a "clean" 2.8.x (x)or 2.6.x setup without giving up some applications.

However, the "gauge"-bug remains ...

PS: Yes, I installed both wxWidgets and wxFB via synaptic (the compiling I spare for FreeBSD ).
