Thanks @jcajka. I suspect the test may be wrong, as I think Watchman
might use native endianness (it is only intended for use by processes on
the same host).
I'll try to confirm that, and either fix the test or fix the implementation.

I've just added a commit to the "next" branch (953aa33) that should fix the failing test. I don't have access to a big-endian machine to actually run the test however; I'll try to get access to one when I get to work, and if all is good, will cherry-pick to "master" as well.

With the patch applied, the build passes on PPC [1]. Going to apply it for official build. Thanks.

Thanks a lot for confirming. I tried to get a working Debian for PowerPC
install happening inside Qemu on OS X, but didn't succeed on my first try
(my second attempt is installing now).
Will merge to master.
