I just went through the code in StdWXCalculate. There seems to be an undocumented decision to use prefer_hardware if nothing is listed in the [StdWXCalculate], but I don't see how this would effect whether dewpoint gets calculated.
We're going to need more information. There's not much to go on in the bug description.
