"Local transport": exactly. The examples above let you run application components side-by-side to the router (dealer+broker) within the same OS process / program. Nevertheless, there is an "internal transport" - this transport just forwards function calls. WAMP messages are still being constructed, but the messages are not serialized/deserialized.
And yes: you can run all three (Dealer, Caller, Callee) inside a single program. The decoupling of the peers will still be there (just over "internal transport").
And yes: transports could also be shared-memory backed queues.
