I thought the fix is simple as:

diff --git a/commands/fetch-suse.go b/commands/fetch-suse.go
index 3090cb1..2f08b74 100644
--- a/commands/fetch-suse.go
+++ b/commands/fetch-suse.go
@@ -191,7 +191,7 @@ func (p *FetchSUSECmd) Execute(_ context.Context, f *flag.FlagSet, _ ...interfac
                roots := models.ConvertSUSEToModel(&ovalroot, suseType)
                for _, root := range roots {
                        root.Timestamp = time.Now()
-                       if err := driver.InsertOval(c.OpenSUSE, &root, fmeta); err != nil {
+                       if err := driver.InsertOval(suseType, &root, fmeta); err != nil {
                                log15.Error("Failed to insert oval", "err", err)
                                return subcommands.ExitFailure
                        }

but it seems that walking on the oval xmls is broken... I investigated it a little bit and it seems that the osVer is not set as expected in walkSUSE
