My bad - some more testing around this seems to show that it works after all - however, i've had to split the file into a .yaml and .eyaml, but that's ok for now.

Thanks anyway!

Hi @alex-leonhardt you should be able to mix yaml and eyaml at different levels of the hiera hierarchy, and also on the same level e.g.

  • production.eyaml
  • production.yaml
  • secrets.eyaml
  • common.yaml

but the first one to return an answer will "win", so the new eyaml files could be overriding the old yaml files?

Hi @TomPoulton, that's what I initially thought, it just seemed to simply not parse the normal .yaml as all values in that disappeared. I'll have to do some more testing around it with other modules (in a more controlled way this time) and if it should happen again, i'll have a full str if necessary :)

Thanks!
