Yes, that's a solution but it's a lot of memory. You could also iterate a first time counting the new elements, resize exactly and then add.

thanks @vigna. I have to admit I didn't fully understand the implications in the discussion you linked. I got that the order is important and another test after sorting the elements again showed that this is indeed the case.

Quick question for real world where I do not know the final size of the hash set and cannot guarantee the order.
Would it make sense to initialize the sets with a large initial capacity to allow for fast adding and then after I'm done call a .trim()?
