Agreed. The user time we'll save by filtering on a case-by-case basis is far outweighed by the time it'll take us to implement and maintain. At least for now.

Better have a single set of default filters we use everywhere.

I was thinking about implementing all of the constants / variables that deal directly with the API (such as the request root, the version, OAuth root, and all filters) with sx-api- -- do you foresee any issues with this?

Other than the possible cache enhancements, I feel we've reached a very nice and stable state with the api stuff (sx-method, sx-auth, sx-request). At least I'm quite happy with it.

Is this still an issue? Do we want to mess with kind of stuff at all anymore?

I think already are doing this to a large extent. Basing filters off of 'none is effectively doing just this. I'm prepared to close if you're in agreement.
