Ruby 1.8.7 is just reaching it's end of life in June 2013 and will no longer be updated, not even in case of critical security issues. I hope you find the time and resources to upgrade your app and infrastructure to a newer MRI Ruby Release, both 1.9.3 and 2.0 are great choices right now.
